Welcome to The Mystical Room

This is where I make room for what cannot always be seen, explained or proven—and for the possibility that there may be more to this world than what we know through our ordinary senses.

I have lived much of my life curious about that possibility. I trust the intuitive mind. I have worked with tarot and oracle cards for decades, not as declarations of what must happen, but as ways of seeing choices, possibilities and the trajectories those choices may create. Sometimes what we discover is reassuring. Sometimes it asks something of us. And sometimes knowing what is needed is very different from choosing to do it.

I also believe in things I cannot prove. I believe in the Sidhe and the world of Faery. Others believe in angels, spirits, ghosts, ancestors, gods, other realms—or none of these at all. You don't need to share my beliefs to wander here.

The Mystical Room isn't here to tell you what is true.

It is a place for curiosity, intuition and the unseen. A place for cards and stories, books and paintings, old conversations, strange experiences and questions that may never have tidy answers.

Come in.

You don't have to believe.

But you might allow yourself to wonder.

Beyond the Visible — Faery & the Sidhe

There are things I believe that I cannot prove.

I believe in the Sidhe. I believe in the world of Faery—not as something whimsical invented for children's stories, but as a possibility within a reality that may be far larger and stranger than the portion of it we are able to see.

I don't need anyone else to believe as I do.

Throughout human history, we have imagined, experienced and named countless presences beyond the visible world. Gods and angels. Spirits and ancestors. Ghosts and demons. Other realms, other beings, other ways of existing. Different cultures and different people have understood the unseen in profoundly different ways.

Perhaps some of it is imagination. Perhaps some of it is metaphor. Perhaps some of it is something we simply don't yet understand.

And perhaps some of it is exactly what someone believes it to be.

For me,

Faery has long occupied that mysterious territory between experience, intuition, imagination and belief. I have written about it, created from it, questioned it and returned to it throughout my life.

I have never felt a need to turn that belief into certainty for someone else.

That isn't what this room is for.

The Mystical Room simply leaves the door open to the possibility that what we can see, touch and explain may not be the whole of existence.

Sometimes I think the most interesting place to stand is at the edge of what we know, looking toward what we don't—and allowing ourselves to wonder what might be there.

Years ago, my friend Mike—better known to many of us as Stretch—and I created the Petals & Leather podcast. We talked about all kinds of things, often wandering wherever our curiosity took us.

Every so often, that wandering carried us beyond the ordinary.

The conversations I've brought into this room are a few of those moments:
explorations of the supernatural,
the unexplained,
belief,
possibility
and the kinds of questions that rarely arrive with tidy answers.

They belong to another time in my creative life, and I've chosen to leave them that way. I don't need to update them or make every thought fit perfectly with who I am today.

They are conversations we genuinely had, questions we genuinely explored, and part of the long trail of curiosity that eventually led here.

So pull up a chair.

The truth is, I could go on and on about the supernatural and invisible side of life, but if I did, this page would become larger than the entire Creative House could hold!

So I'll leave some things unexplored, some stories untold, and more than a few mysteries tucked away for another time.

Perhaps you found something here that feels familiar.

Perhaps something made you curious.

Perhaps you disagreed with me entirely.

All of that is welcome.

The Mystical Room was never meant to give you a collection of things to believe. It is simply a place where we can leave a little room around what we think we know—and remain curious about what we don't.

Trust what you know.

Question what you think you know.

Pay attention to what catches at the edges of your awareness.

And every now and then, allow yourself to wonder.

There may be more possible than we can see from where we're standing.
