Where words and color hold hands.
Art journaling is where my two oldest creative loves meet — writing and making art.
I have kept journals for most of my life, long before I ever thought of myself as an artist. When painting found me, the two practices naturally began reaching for one another. Words wandered into the paint. Color slipped between the sentences. Scraps, sketches, photographs, poetry and ordinary pieces of a life found their way onto the page.
And somewhere along the way, the journal became more than a place where I made art.
It became a place where I could meet myself.
My art journals are working diaries of discovery — sometimes exuberant and layered, sometimes quiet and spare, sometimes messy, unfinished, or wonderfully strange. They hold seasons of change, bursts of joy, questions without answers, grief, curiosity, memory and the small things I might otherwise forget.
I still return to them again and again.
Each page is a conversation between heart and hand.
Some are vibrant, others raw. All are true.
And the journal on my table is never the last one.
There is always another page waiting.
